Perfect Wind to Zero Wind

We continue pressing west with plenty of blue water between us and Hawaii. The days have started to blur, but the lessons keep coming and the small victories still arrive right when we need them. Some days out here feel effortless and almost magical. Other days test every ounce of patience we have. Over the last couple of days we managed to experience both extremes.
As you’ll see in the videos, we went from an absolutely ideal day of sailing with perfect wind to a full day of zero wind. The contrast was almost comical. One moment Hazel was gliding along as if she had found her groove, the next she was drifting in a glassy ocean that looked more like a lake at dawn.
We truly need wind. We are very low on fuel, and for that matter, we have very little water left. The lack of both hangs over Hazel’s crew like a grey cloud.
One thing we will never run out of is food. Peter is a magician with a fishing pole. I think we pull in fifteen pounds of mahi mahi fillets a week. Unfortunately, as you’ll see in the picture below, this will be our last mahi mahi for a while. This one snapped our rod clean in half. Time to bring out the hand line.
Next time we publish the blog, hopefully we can write the words land ho.
From from sunrise to moonlit night on Hazel.
Sometimes watching the flag fly iin the wind is my source of entertainement. Proud to be an American!
A perfect day sailing!
Peter hooked another Mahi-Mahi! This is the fish that broke our fishing pole.
I spoke of the perfect day of sailing, Peter narrates the not so perfect day..
Hard to tell from this video, but even on nightwatch the Mahi-Mahi guide Hazel to Hawaii

May the Lord furnish good, moderate wind to get you to the Islands more quickly. Giddyap, Hazel!
I have never seen such a beautiful blue spotted colored Fish amazing
